Digital SAT preparation

Your teen is closer to 1500 than the score says.

Most teens aren't losing points because of what they don't know. They're losing them in seven other places no tutor is watching. We find all eight, and fix only what's costing the score.

We only win when your teen does.

Why the score won’t move

Why more studying isn’t moving the score..

Nearly all SAT prep is built on one idea.. learn more, score more. For a teen already sitting in the 1200s or 1300s, that’s usually not what’s wrong.

There are eight ways to lose points on the digital SAT. We call them the Eight Leaks. Not knowing the material is one of them, and for a strong student it’s usually the smallest. The other seven are what keep the score stuck:

  • The Setup, they understood the question, then went at it the wrong way.
  • Misreads, one word skimmed, and a question they could do becomes one they got wrong.
  • Traps, wrong answers built to look right to someone moving fast.
  • Execution Slips, they solve it correctly, then write down the wrong thing.
  • The Clock, not running out of time at the end, but spending it in the wrong places.
  • Nerves, 1450 at home, 1290 on the day.
  • Fatigue, sharp for the first hour, sloppy through the second.

Tutoring, courses and Khan all work on the first one. That’s how a smart kid does everything right and still sits at 1280.

The 1500 Method

We don’t start by teaching. We start by finding the leaks.

Diagnose and Enhance

Before we teach anything, we go through every question your teen got wrong and work out which leak caused it. You see exactly where the points are going.

Apply and Practice

Then we fix them in order, starting with whichever one is costing the most points. Weekly one-on-one coaching on nothing but that.

Simulate Success

Full, timed, proctored practice built slightly harder than the real test, so test day feels like something they’ve already done and the nerves stop costing points.

Proof

Students who were stuck.

Amy

12601510

Did everything right and still didn’t move. It was two question types and one timing habit.

Ethan

11301510

A 4.0 student. School rewards a skill the SAT barely tests.

Emily

12801530

Two attempts and months of studying got her ten points, until someone found the actual problem.

Owen

12401490

Knew the material cold. It was the clock the whole time.

Who it’s for

For teens who are close but stuck.

This is for students who are capable, already putting in the work, and still not getting the score that work should produce. If your teen is scoring in the 1100s, 1200s or 1300s and the number won’t move, it’s almost never that they’ve hit their limit. It’s usually a few leaks nobody has looked for.

The tutors

Taught by people who’ve done it.

Every tutor from the 1500 Lab has scored in the top percentile of the SAT themselves, and has taken other students through the same jump yours is trying to make. We match your teen to the tutor who fits their leaks, not to whoever’s free.

Why we’re different

We take things away.

We find the exact reasons the points are going, fix those, and cut the studying that was never doing anything. It’s all online, in the same digital format your teen sits the real test in, and you see progress every week instead of waiting for results day.

What happens next

The call is free, and you leave knowing what’s costing the score.

We look at where the points are actually going, and you see it for yourself.

1 Step one

You apply

A few questions about your teen, their scores and what they’re aiming for. Two minutes and you’re on the calendar.

2 Step two

You get the assessment

We go through where your teen actually stands.. their scores, what’s already been tried, and which of the Eight Leaks are most likely taking the points. You see the whole thing laid out, and what it would take to close the gap. Most families have never had anyone actually look.

3 Step three

You leave with answers

Whether or not you end up working with us, you leave knowing what’s holding the score back and what it takes to fix. A straight answer from someone who does this every day.

Already booked a call? Have your teen on it with you, both of you there, and bring a recent score report or PSAT if you have one. That’s all you need. How to get the most from your call →

The 1500 Guarantee

Every student we take is guaranteed a 1500, in writing. Hit it, or your money back.

The assessment is where the plan gets built. We look at where the points are going and map out what it takes to get your teen from their score to a 1500.. the timeline, the intensity, all of it. If we don’t think we’re the right fit, we won’t take you on.

All we ask is that your teen does the work.. attend the sessions, finish the plan, sit the SAT.
